Should You Be Taking Vitamin Supplements
or are they just a waste of money?
"VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS MAY NOT BE AS BENEFICIAL AS ONCE THOUGHT.....DETAILS AFTER THIS COMMERCIAL MESSAGE."This was the lead in to a story I saw on THE EVENING NEWS. The report went on to site a recent study that "proved" that vitamin supplements do very little to affect our health and that just eating a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables is all you really need to do. This is not the first time I've heard about studies that claim that adding nutritional supplements to your diet is simply a waste of money... and it won't be the last. As I watched the report, I wondered about a few things: Who payed for the study? What vitamins and/or minerals where used in the study? What where the dosages? How long was the study? Who participated in the study? What forms of the vitamin supplements where used in the study? (For example, some forms of calcium are considered easier for the body to assimilate than other forms.) Did they use synthetic (MAN MADE) or organic (natural) vitamin supplements in the study? Of course, none of these questions were answered in a 3 minute news story. However, that doesn't make the questions any less important. If anything, it makes them even more important.
Are All Nutrional Supplements Created Equal?
Before we talk more about the problems with medical studies, I would like to make an analogy. If someone asked you if you thought that going to see a movie was a total waste of money? What would you say? Most people might say: "It depends...What movie is it?" or "Who's in it?" or maybe "What are the people, who saw it, saying about It?" The point I'm trying to make is this: Just like some movies are good and worth the price of admission, others are a waste of time and money. Vitamin supplements are No DIFFERENT! Some are highly effective and worth taking and others are simply a waste of time and money. Why do I say this? And what makes one supplement worth taking and another one perhaps a colossal waste of money? Well, just like the movie questions, we need to ask similar questions in regards to nutritional supplements. For Instance: What's in it? What are the dosages? Where did the nutrients come from? Are they organic? Or are they synthetic, man-made substances from a lab? What form are the vitamin supplements in? Are they a liquid? A powder? An oil? In a capsule or tablet? Or drink? These are important questions, because the human body can assimilate organic, food-based nutrients much better than the man-made, synthetic variety found in most vitamin and mineral supplements. Now, Let's talk a little bit about medical studies.
Are All Medical Studies Unbiased?
Did you know that anyone can finance a medical study on vitamin supplements? Do you know who likes to finance lots of medical studies? THE DRUG INDUSTRY!!! You see, The drug industry doesn't like vitamins supplements. The reason? They can't patent natural substances that come from God and nature. So this hurts their bottom line. Also, people take drugs when they are sick, not when they are well. It's simple math. The more drugs people TAKE...the more money the drug companies MAKE. There have been many accounts in the news, where drug companies have been caught selling drugs that they knew were unsafe and ineffective. Yet, they hide this fact from the public because they don't want to lose any money. I will tell you this much, many of these "test studies" are set up to fail. The drug companies are paying for the research and they want the results to promote their agenda. They want everyone to think that the only way you can "cure" disease is to take DRUGS and NOT vitamin supplements. Some of the things they do to alter the results are use cheap, synthetic forms of certain vitamins that are ineffective instead of using pure, organic natural versions of the nutrient they are testing in their study. They also like to use very low amounts that are too small to be effective in the studies. Whatever it takes to get the results they want. I've just scratched the surface of all the little tricks they come up with. Again, if you do some more research, you will see how clever BIG PHARMA really is. They are even trying to pass legislation to force you to have to get a prescription from a doctor to buy vitamins and other natural supplements!!! I hope that makes you angry! They want to infringe on your freedom of choice and make it harder for you to take control of your own health decisions. You see, They (the drug companies) want to dictate what you put in your body. THE ARROGANCE!!

Is A Diet Rich In Fresh Fruits And Vegetables Enough?
As I mentioned earlier, the recommendation of the particular study, that was reported on the evening news, concluded that a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables was all one needed to stay healthy.Here's the problem. Most people DON"T get enough fresh fruits and vegetables everyday. We are living in a very fast-paced world where many people are eating on the go and we don't always have the time we'd like to sit down and eat a healthy meal. Also, many experts believe that because of soil erosion and other factors, vegetables and fruits aren't as nutritious as they used to be. For example, scientists analyzed a head of spinach and discovered that it only has 25% of the nutrients that a head of spinach had 20 years ago. Is it any wonder many people are malnourished and always tired? Add to this, that many fruits and vegetables are now genetically altered. Do we really know how this is affecting our health? And last but not least, the human body is under attack. Never before have we had as much pollution and environmental hazards as we do today. Due to technological advances, cell phones are everywhere now and because they give off Electromagnetic frequencies (EMF's) they have an adverse effect on the human body. Plus the world is a very stressful place. Stress takes a big toll on your body and increases your need for B vitamins as well as other vital nutrients. Vitamin supplements help combat all these attacks on our bodies.

Because of all the factors I just mentioned, it seems to me that diet is not enough. I am not alone in my assessment. Many nutritionists and health advocates stress the need for adding vitamin supplements to your daily diet.Does that mean that ALL SUPPLEMENTS ON THE MARKET ARE WORTH TAKING?........

FOOD BASED VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS are basically high concentrations of FRUITS and VEGETABLES as well as other PLANT SOURCES. Remember that study? Well,they are right when they say...You need lots of fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, you just DO NOT get enough of them from DIET alone.
